Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

Sakura Bridge is a dating and matchmaking platform connecting Japanese and Asian members with European members. For the purposes of the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation, Sakura Bridge is the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

2. What we collect

  • Account details: your email address and password (stored in encrypted form).
  • Profile details: display name, age, gender, the gender you are seeking, region, city and country, your bio, and your chosen hobbies, foods, and activities.
  • A profile photo, if you upload one.
  • Activity data: likes you send and receive, matches, conversations and messages, your membership tier, token balance, and token history.
  • Payment records: the product you bought, the amount, the currency, and the status of the purchase. Card details are handled entirely by our payment provider and never reach us.

3. Why we use your data

  • To create and run your account, and to show your profile to other members (performance of our agreement with you).
  • To calculate compatibility between members and suggest matches (performance of our agreement).
  • To process membership payments and token purchases (performance of our agreement, and our legal duty to keep financial records).
  • To review reports, block abusive members, and keep the platform safe (our legitimate interest in protecting members).
  • To send you essential service messages such as payment confirmations (performance of our agreement).

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the providers who help us run the platform:

  • Our payment provider, Stripe, to process your payment securely.
  • Our hosting and database providers, who store the platform and its data on our behalf.
  • Authorities, where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to protect someone from harm.

5. Where your data is stored

Our providers may process data outside the UK and European Economic Area. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to keep your data protected.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your profile and activity data for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account we remove your profile, likes, and conversations. Payment records are kept for as long as tax law requires, usually six years.

7. Your rights

Under data protection law you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate.
  • Ask us to delete your data, including closing your account entirely.
  • Object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing.
  • Ask us to transfer your data to another service.
  • Complain to your national data protection authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office.

8. Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and to keep the platform secure. See our Cookie Policy for the full detail.

9. Security

Passwords are stored in encrypted form, access to member data is restricted so that members can only reach their own records, and payments are handled by Stripe rather than by us. No online service can be perfectly secure, so please choose a strong, unique password.

10. Children

Sakura Bridge is strictly for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a member is under 18 we delete the account and its data.

11. Contact

To exercise any of the rights above, contact us using the Report option on any profile, or by replying to any email we send you. We will respond within one month.
